Termites
Australia has over 350 species of termites – yet less than 10 of these species account for 99% of the damage to buildings. A recent CSIRO survey found that 45% of properties in Queensland had a termite presence. A subsequent Australian Institute of Architects survey further confirmed this, reporting that of all homes inspected prior to sale in a subsequent year, one third had some termite damage.
Buying a property?
Before you buy a house – it is vital to have an expert inspect it for termite activity. The cost of a report is minimal compared with the potential expense of repairs. Ensure you engage a properly qualified, experienced and insured pest inspector to identify pest activity, advise you on the risks of future infestation due to the current conditions, and provide advice on preventive actions to manage termite activity.
